Thieves targeted two businesses in Boerum Hill last week, causing damage and stealing money. The police are currently looking into whether these incidents are connected or not. The two businesses, Blank Street Coffee and Piccola Cucina Casa, both had their front doors smashed in on the same day.
Blank Street Coffee on Bergen Street was broken into around 2:40 a.m., with $100 missing from the cash register. At Piccola Cucina Casa, the owners were unsure of the time of the break-in, but $1,000 was stolen. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to help identify the suspects involved in these crimes.
While the number of burglaries in Boerum Hill’s 84th Precinct has not seen a significant increase this year compared to last year, there has been a rise in other major crime categories, such as robberies and felony assaults.
