He notified the Flight Standards District Office of his plans and ensured compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Additionally, a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) was filed with Ft Worth center to alert them of the balloon activity.
When asked why he embarked on this ambitious project, the man explained that he was looking for a challenging hobby to keep himself engaged and, of course, because space is just plain cool.
