New York Islanders star center Bo Horvat done messed up his leg real bad while playing with Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championships and will be sitting out the rest of the tournament. The Islanders are sending him back to Long Island to see their doctors and figure out just how messed up he really is. The poor guy got hurt during Canada’s 2-1 loss to Finland in Group A play, only playing for a measly 11:28 minutes before calling it quits for the night.
Throughout his time with Team Canada, Horvat managed to score four goals and four assists, totaling eight points, and was a big deal on their power play. Seems like he’s pretty important when he’s got a good team around him to back him up. The dude had a bit of a rocky season in 2024-25, leading the Islanders with 28 goals but still having his worst season since 2020-21. He came in strong with 33 goals after being traded from the Vancouver Cancucks in 2022-23, but things went a tad downhill from there.
The Islanders are looking to have a better season next time around, so they really can’t afford to have Horvat out for too long. This guy, along with his first-linemates Barzal and Duclair, had their fair share of injuries last season, which didn’t help the team make it to the playoffs for the second time in four years. With the recent departure of Lou Lamoriello, the Islanders might be going through some big changes soon. Some folks are even talking about the possibility of Horvat being traded as he heads into the third year of his eight-year contract. Let’s hope he gets patched up real quick and back on the ice soon.
