A Long Island therapist named Renee Hoberman was recently arrested for distributing child pornography. Shockingly, she posed as a man online and shared videos depicting infants being sexually abused. The disturbing chats revealed that she claimed to have minors whom she sexually assaulted, including her own children.
Hoberman used various usernames on messaging apps to engage in these sickening activities between June and October 2024. When authorities received tips about her actions, they raided her home and found incriminating evidence on her phone. She confessed to the crimes and admitted to having a preference for violent depictions of children in pornography.
As a child therapist specializing in infants to 17-year-olds at LifeStance Health in Melville, Hoberman’s employer terminated her immediately upon learning of the charges. They are now working to ensure that her patients receive care from other providers. The company emphasized that they have not received any reports of patients being affected by her alleged activities.
Hoberman was charged with distribution of child pornography and was arraigned in Central Islip. She is currently being held without bail, awaiting further legal proceedings. This disturbing case sheds light on the importance of thorough background checks and monitoring in professions involving children, to prevent such heinous acts from occurring.
