Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure, are they really feuding or is it just a bunch of hooey? These two “Full House” stars, who played sisters DJ and Stephanie Tanner, respectively, on the classic ABC sitcom from 1987 to 1995, seem to have had a bit of a kerfuffle last summer. Sweetin, who is 43, and Bure, who is 49, had some differences of opinion when it came to the Paris Olympics. Sweetin, star of “The Jane Mysteries,” called out conservatives for their negative opinions on the opening ceremony, which featured drag queens. On the other hand, Bure thought the whole thing was “disgusting” and felt it was mocking “the Christian faith.”

During a recent episode of “The Vault” podcast with host Amir Yass, Sweetin clarified the situation regarding her relationship with Bure. She mentioned, “Tell us you don’t know about art,” in reference to the whole debacle. She explained, “You were speaking about her… To be honest, I wasn’t speaking about her. There was already something that had happened where we went on a divergent path. And then I saw the Olympics thing and how people were freaking out about it, so I said, ‘Oh my God, tell me you don’t know anything about art history without telling me you know nothing,’ and everyone was like, ‘She came for Candace!’”

The rumors of a feud caught Sweetin off guard. She recounted, “And I was like, ‘What the…?’ I was, like, getting a massage or something, and I came out to all of this, and I was like, ‘What did I…? Oh, she said….ohhhhhh. Well, I guess that’s it!’” Despite the misunderstanding, Sweetin stood her ground, stating, “I’m not changing anything I said. But it was not an intentional dig. But it was still what I wanted to say.”

Sweetin emphasized that their differing viewpoints have never caused them to have a full-blown argument. She explained, “It’s funny, we’ve never actually ‘gotten into it.’ She posted her viewpoint and I posted mine, and we’ve always been very different on those things. I think it was just… now all of that comes to the surface more.”

The “Full House” cast, including the late Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, have always shared a close bond. Most of the main cast, minus the Olsen twins, reunited for five seasons of Netflix’s “Fuller House” from 2016-2020.

When it comes to social media drama, Bure unfollowed Sweetin on Instagram in 2022 after the latter supported JoJo Siwa’s criticism of Bure’s comments about traditional families in Great American Family’s programming. Sweetin, however, took a different approach, stating, “I’m not gonna unfollow anybody! I don’t live my life based on social media.”

The drama between the two actresses seems to stem from their differing opinions on various topics. Bure defended her stance on showing traditional marriage in her programming, stating, “All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.”

Despite their differences, Sweetin and Bure have known each other since they were kids and have managed to maintain a cordial relationship. Sweetin explained, “Candace and I have just lived very different…lifestyles. We just exist in different worlds, but she is still someone I have known since I was 5 years old.” She added, “It’s like family members. Maybe we don’t talk all the time, and I know if politics comes up, it is not going to go well, but I don’t hate you. I am not going to not hug you, but I’m also not going to not keep my mouth shut. So that’s what I did. That’s how I look at it. You don’t want to follow or whatever, that’s cool.”

It seems like these two actresses may have their differences, but they still manage to keep things civil despite the occasional disagreement. In the world of Hollywood, where drama seems to be around every corner, it’s refreshing to see two former co-stars handle their differences with maturity and respect. So, maybe it’s not all bad blood between Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure after all.
