Instead of facing a potential year behind bars for driving while intoxicated, Timberlake pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired, a violation. As part of the deal, he was sentenced to 25 hours of community service, ordered to pay a $500 fine, had his license suspended for 90 days, and will create a public service announcement about the dangers of driving under the influence.
During his court appearance, Timberlake expressed remorse for his actions, telling Justice Carl Irace, “I won’t be back here again.” He also took the opportunity to address the media and urge others not to make the same mistake he did.
Following the case’s conclusion, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney commended Timberlake for taking responsibility for his actions and using his platform to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. He emphasized that the law applies to everyone equally, regardless of their wealth or celebrity status.
Tierney also highlighted the seriousness of drunk and drugged driving, stressing that these behaviors pose a significant threat to public safety. With the availability of public transit and ride-sharing services, there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel while impaired.
