Kelsey Grammer got all emotional and stuff on The View this morning, talking about the time he had to identify his sister’s body after she got killed. It was super sad, y’all. The actor, who was pushing his new book Karen: A Brother Remembers, was just 20 when his sister Karen, who was only 18, got snatched up by some dudes in a parking lot in Colorado Springs. They did some terrible things to her before stabbing her like 42 times. Can you even imagine that kind of horror?
Grammer decided to dig into the police report to tell his sister’s story better. He said he felt like a detective trying to find out more about Karen. Turns out, he found out about some friends she had that he never knew about. It was like a little light in the darkness for him. He hopes his book can help people who have gone through similar stuff, you know? Trying to balance out the grief with some joy, make it a 50/50 kinda thing. Seems like a tough road to walk, but he’s trying to help others find their way too.
The actor couldn’t get that last image of his sister out of his head, the one where he had to ID her body. It haunted him for years, until he wrote the book. Now he says she’s alive again, in a way. He wants others to feel that too, to bring their loved ones back to life in their memories. The View airs every weekday on ABC at 11/10c, in case you wanna catch more emotional moments like this one.
