Malik Nabers, the star receiver for the Giants, is on the verge of missing his second consecutive game due to a concussion. Despite being the team’s top draft pick and leading receiver, Nabers did not participate in full practice on Thursday. Head coach Brian Daboll mentioned that Nabers remains in the concussion protocol, the same status as the previous day. To have a chance of playing against the Bengals on Sunday, Nabers would need to practice in a non-contact jersey on Friday, indicating that he is likely in Phase 4 of the protocol. If he is not cleared to practice on Friday, his availability for the game on Sunday would be in doubt.
On a more positive note, running back Devin Singletary is making progress with his groin injury and is getting closer to returning to the field. However, guard Jon Runyan missed practice for the second day in a row due to an illness, while guard Greg Van Roten returned after a rest day. Daboll expressed hope that Runyan would be available for Sunday’s game. Wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who scored a touchdown on a blocked punt in the previous game, appeared on the injury report with a shoulder injury and did not practice.
Defensive lineman D.J. Davidson was limited in practice due to a shoulder injury, while DE Brian Burns and CB Adoree’ Jackson were also limited but expected to play. CB Dru Philips was limited with calf and shoulder injuries. On the Bengals’ side, TE Mike Gesicki and HB Chase Brown were limited in practice due to hamstring and quad issues, respectively. DE Sheldon Rankins and RB Zack Moss were limited with hamstring and foot injuries, indicating potential challenges for the Bengals as well.
