Richard Acosta, a resident of Port Richmond, has pleaded guilty to charges of harassment and unlawful surveillance in connection to an incident that took place at the College of Staten Island (CSI) campus. The incident involved the recording of two victims while they were using the bathroom.
Acosta, who is also a student at CSI, used his cell phone to unlawfully record the victims on the school campus. As a result of his guilty plea, he now faces up to two years in prison and will be required to register as a sexual offender.
The Staten Island District Attorney’s office, in collaboration with the NYPD, conducted an investigation into the incident. Surveillance and video footage of the defendant from the days in question were collected, leading to his arrest.
