The Edmonton Oilers totally crushed it by winning six games in a row and are now just two wins away from making it to the Western Conference finals for the third time in four years. Crazy, right?
They totally dominated both games in Vegas and are coming back home as -550 favorites to move on to the next round. Game 2 had some drama with the Knights being all salty about a missed tripping call that led to Leon Draisaitl’s game-winning goal in overtime. But let’s be real, Edmonton totally deserves the 2-0 series lead.
Even though the Oilers had to come back in both games, they have outscored the Knights 8-3 at 5-on-5, and they have created more expected goals, high-danger scoring chances, and shots on goal. It’s like they are on fire or something.
But wait, there’s more. The Oilers have some flaws that everyone knows about. Their goalie situation is a hot mess, their forward depth is questionable, and their defense has been iffy at times this season. Yet, none of these issues have bitten them in the butt during this series.
Calvin Pickard is killing it in the playoffs, not losing a single game. The defense is looking solid with John Klingberg, Brett Kulak, and Darnell Nurse stepping up. Mattias Ekholm’s absence is felt, but the current six rearguards are holding it down.
The depth forwards are also doing their thing, pushing play in the right direction until McDavid and Draisaitl come back in to work their magic. And oh boy, McDavid and Draisaitl have been absolutely amazing.
And let’s not forget about Pickard holding it down in goal, doing exactly what his team needs him to do. He’s won all six of his starts in the playoffs, despite having a .892 save percentage. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Looking ahead to Game 3, it’s clear that the Oilers are in top form. You really have to bring your A-game to beat them right now. Their star players can single-handedly win a game, even when they’re not playing their best. And if the rest of the team steps up, it’s game over for the opposition.
Vegas might be the underdogs, but it’s hard to see them taking control of the game. The Oilers are in such good shape that even the Knights being in a must-win situation doesn’t seem to faze them. In fact, you can get a decent deal betting on the Oilers because of this.
So, the play for Game 3 is to go with the Oilers at -140 or better. Trust me, they’re on a roll and it’s going to be tough for Vegas to stop them.
Why should you trust my betting advice? Well, I may be a die-hard Islanders fan, but I’ve been making money in the sports betting world for a decade. I love using game theory to help punters win big and find those elusive long shots. So, take my word for it and go with the Oilers in Game 3. You won’t regret it.
