A rare Pokemon card is set to be auctioned off by Richard Winterton Auctioneers in Lichfield, and it’s no ordinary card. The BGS fourth print Charizard card has been graded as the best example in the world by Beckett Grading Services, with a rating of nine. This particular card is from a scarce print run and has a guide price of £8,000 to £12,000, but experts believe it could fetch much more at auction.

The card is being sold by Pokemon collector Jon Free, who hails from Suffolk and is known for being one of the largest collectors of fourth print Pokemon cards. Jon explained that the fourth print for the 1999-2000 Base Set was created due to copyright issues at the turn of the millennium. The non-holo fourth print cards were printed worldwide, but the holographic cards were only printed in the UK for a brief period of two weeks. What makes this Charizard card even more special is that it features slightly altered artwork, with the black stripes behind the Charizard changed to red.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers has gained recognition as a major destination for Pokemon collectors, with bidders from around the world participating in their auctions. In a previous auction, a single owner collection of Pokemon cards sold for an impressive £55,270. Auctioneer Richard Winterton expressed excitement about auctioning off Jon’s prized card, stating that it is the highest grade Beckett fourth print Charizard in the world. The auction house is expecting a significant amount of interest from collectors globally.
