The swordsman is making a triumphant return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Tony Dalton, known for his role as Jack Duquesne, aka The Swordsman, will be appearing in two episodes of the highly anticipated Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again, set to premiere on Disney+. This news has been met with great enthusiasm, especially considering the buzz surrounding Dalton’s potential involvement in the show, which promises to bring back a host of beloved street-level characters from Netflix’s Daredevil and The Punisher, as reported by Deadline.
In 2021, Dalton made his debut as Duquesne in the Hawkeye series on Disney+, where he brought a fresh take on the character’s comic book roots. Playing the role of The Swordsman, Dalton’s character initially appeared as a potential antagonist, entangled in a web of deceit after being framed for his uncle’s murder and acquiring a sword once wielded by the original Hawkeye. However, the plot thickened in the finale of Hawkeye when it was revealed that Eleanor Bishop, portrayed by Vera Farmiga, was the true mastermind behind the scheme, working hand in hand with Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, also known as the Kingpin.
Since his appearance in Hawkeye, Dalton has been absent from any MCU projects—until now. With D’Onofrio’s return as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, Dalton’s reprisal of his role as The Swordsman seamlessly fits into the gritty and dark atmosphere of the show. The series is set to bring back other fan-favorite characters from Netflix’s Daredevil, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, as well as Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
Beyond his work in the MCU, Dalton has an extensive career in Spanish-language television and film, but it was his portrayal of the menacing Lalo Salamanca in Better Call Saul that catapulted him to international stardom. Alongside his role in Daredevil: Born Again, Dalton is set to star in the action thriller Trap House, alongside Dave Bautista and Bobby Cannavale, produced by Signature Films and Scott Free Productions, adding to his impressive list of upcoming projects.
Represented by Gilbertson Entertainment, Gersh, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman, Dalton continues to captivate audiences with his versatile performances and compelling characters, solidifying his status as a rising star in the entertainment industry.
