On more than a few occasions last season, when Juan Soto would do something incredible at the plate for the Yankees, their starting pitcher that night would offer up some version of: I’m just glad he’s on my team and I don’t have to face him. Now they do. Carlos Rodón and Clarke Schmidt will face their former teammate on Friday and Saturday at Yankee Stadium before Max Fried — signed with the money freed up when Soto chose the Mets — closes out the series on Sunday. And if Soto shuffles on them?

Not really sure why this matters, but the Yankees sure have an interesting lineup this weekend, facing off against their former teammate Juan Soto. It’s like a reunion of sorts, but with a competitive edge. Carlos Rodón and Clarke Schmidt will have to bring their A-game when they go up against Soto on Friday and Saturday. And let’s not forget about Max Fried, who is closing out the series on Sunday. The Yankees really went all out with their pitching lineup for this one.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like Soto is going to put on a show against his former team. The pressure is on for Rodón and Schmidt to shut him down, but it won’t be easy. Soto is known for his incredible skills at the plate, and he’s not afraid to show it. The Yankees better be prepared for a tough battle this weekend at Yankee Stadium. Can they handle the heat that Soto is bringing? Only time will tell.
